Rare English Chelsea plate,circa 1750-52, decorated after a Japanese kakiemon design with the ‘Lady in the Pavilion’ pattern, of lobed form, outlined in black and painted in red, blue, turquoise and gold, the lady standing gracefully to the left, the elaborate pavilion hung with drapery and tassels and covering a bird perched on a basket, and a small stool, another small bird in flight above.
