Chinese blue and white gu-form beaker vase, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in bright underglaze blue with lotus and scrolling foliage to the body, the central bulbous band divided by twin bands of ruyi-heads and a geometric design, an narrow twin bands encircling the mouth and foot, apocryphal Chenghua mark to the base; height: 19½ in. (49.6 cm.); condition: piece out of rim and repaired back in, fritting to the foot, small area to bottom of lower register with discolouration and shallow flake. Provenance: from the collection of Soame Jenyns (1904-1976).
