Extremely rare Japanese Imari garniture, circa 1700, comprising three baluster jars with lids and two smaller beakers with trumpet necks; the pierced ogee-topped panels to the front of the bodies decorated with flowers including chrysanthemum and peony amongst foliage, bordered by a wide blue band with half flowerheads and gilt foliate scroll, the sides with flowers and grasses, the feet with stylised lappets and necks with concentric circles in underglaze blue and narrow bands of iron-red scrolls with small flowerheads, the covers similarly decorated with floral panels and surmounted by pear shaped finials.
