Japanese Imari barber's bowl, c.1700, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red enamels to the centre with a large jardinière containing peonies and sprays of millet upon a veranda, all within a narrow blue band, the rim with three large half flowerheads amongst scrolling foliage with seedpods, peony and other flowers; the reverse with two sprays of flowering plum and concentric circles in underglaze cobalt blue around the footrim
