Chinese famille verte dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), with gently curving sides and everted border brightly enamelled and gilded at the centre with a battle scene between three female warriors, two of whom are on horseback, being pursued by several male warriors both mounted and on foot. The male figures with fierce expressions wearing armour and brandishing halberds; the female figures wearing light clothing and holding swords, two dignitaries and bannermen standing in the background observing the scene, all set in a rocky landscape, the rim band with six landscape cartouches reserved on a trellis-pattern ground, the underside with an underglaze blue encircled leaf mark, condition: rim fritting and minor chips, diameter: 14 5/8in.
