Rare Chinese blue and white ewer, Wanli (1573-1619), modelled with globular body, tall cylindrical neck, a serpentine handle issuing from the neck to the body terminating in a dragon head, and a horizontal rib below the neck rim, painted in shades of cobalt blue with a continuous scene depicting a phoenix in flight on one side and a pair of birds on the other amongst foliage and rockwork, the neck with a similar bird on rockwork between camellia branches, divided by a slightly ogee band of stylised foliage and clouds at the shoulder, height: 8 7/8in. 22.5cm. condition: SOLD
