Pair of miniature Chinese famille verte biscuit parrots, Kangxi (1662-1722), standing upon rockwork bases, height: 3 3/4in., 9.5cm; condition: one with small chip to rim of base. A similar parrot from is illustrated in Sargent, William R., 'The Copeland Collection', The Peabody Museum of Salem, pp. 88-89. According to Sargent such items were listed as toys in English and Dutch East India Company records and were probably imported for such a purpose. SOLD
