Small Chinese blue and white ewer, Transitional period (1627-1662), decorated with figures in a landscape, the neck with tulips, the handle and spout with clouds, height: 6 3/4in., 17.3cm; condition: chip to end of spout, crack to bridge, fritting to rim, base of handle and spout, small chip to foot. A similarly shaped Transitional ewer can be found in the Royal Collection and is illustrated in Ayers, John, 'Chinese and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of her Majesty the Queen', Vol. I, p. 122, pl. 235. The lack of a loop to the handle suggests that this ewer was not meant to have a cover. SOLD
