Chinese famille verte barber's bowl, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in the centre with two birds in flight, their wings encircling an arrangement of peony issuing from rockwork with daisies and seedpods, surrounded by a band of vermillion terrace fence with scrolling vines and bamboo, the wide rim with a fan-shaped cartouche containing a watery landscape and two leaf-shaped cartouches containing peony, chrysanthemum prunus and a bird in flight, against a green stippled ground with scrolling peony and pomegranate design, the reverse with a narrow ruyi-head band in iron red and four floral boughs.
