Chinese famille verte octagonal basin, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in the centre with a pine tree, peonies and bamboo, with a pair of birds perched on a branch, the eight canted sides containing a variety of flowers including peonies and lilies, the outer border with four vignettes containing a cricket alternating with a butterfly all against a diaper background with lotus seed heads, the reverse with 8 panels containing various flowers, the outer border with four vignettes with alternating fish and crayfish against a diaper background, diameter: 13 3/8in. (34 cm), height: 10 7/8in. (27.6 cm).
