Japanese blue and white Arita coffee pot and cover, Edo period, late 17th Century, the conical shape decorated in brilliant underglaze-blue with two ho-ho birds amongst chrysanthemum and peony in a landscape, the cover similarly decorated with floral sprays and surmounted by a knop finial, on three feet with later European metal mounts, height: 12 1/2in., (31.7cm); condition: two small chips to inner rim of cover, one with short associated hairline.
