Large Chinese blue and white 'scholars' bowl, Kangxi mark and of the period (1662-1722), the exterior decorated in bright shades of cobalt blue depicting a riverscape scene with scholars, deer, cranes and tall pine trees, the interior with a roundel enclosing two deer, the inner rim with a band of upright leaves and rocks, with underglaze blue six-character mark to base, diameter: 8 in. (20.5 cm.), height: 3 7/8 in. (10cm); condition: restored shallow chip to rim. SOLD
