Large Italian maiolica charger, 17th century,Deruta, with an elaborate moulded pattern of flutes and gadroons, decorated in the centre with birds and hounds below a castle, the cavetto with birds, hares and hounds among fruiting foliage, with two bands of scrolling foliage and flower heads around the inner and outer rims, diameter: 18 1/8in., 46cm. This charger would have originally been used as a ewer stand. SOLD
