Pair of Meissen Teabowls, circa 1725-30, decorated with chinoiserie scenes of figures in a garden setting with flowers and insects, the one with a figure standing by a plinth surmounted by a statue, and two figures brewing tea on the reverse side, the other with two figures drinking tea, and a single figure within a fenced garden playing an instrument, all within gilt scrollwork cartouches filled with Böttger lustre, edged with purple and iron-red scrollwork, the rims gilded, the interiors decorated with flowering plants issuing from stylised rockwork beneath gilt scroll and strapwork borders, the base impressed with gilt letter ‘K.’ inside the footrim for Johann Martin Kittel.
