Japanese blue and white Arita jug, circa 1650-1670, the bulbous body decorated in the Chinese 'Transitional' style with two groups of figures at a riverbank in a continuous landscape with trees and stylised rockwork divided by narrow concentric bands, the waisted neck with pinched spout decorated with upright stylised flowers interspersed by formal applied design, applied with C-shaped handle decorated with scroll and geometrical patterns, with a hole to the top of the handle; height: 10 in.
