Chinese blue and white ‘Hatcher Cargo’ teapot and cover, Shunzhi period (1644-46), the globular body decorated within narrow concentric bands with scenes of a scholar sitting by a fenced garden with branches issuing from stylised rockwork and an attendant, the straight spout decorated with scrolls, the handle with scrollwork and an artemisia leaf, the cover decorated with scrolling flowerheads, with Christie's label to base, height: 3 15/16in.
