Pair of Chinese famille verte bottle vases, Kangxi (1662-1722), with garlic necks, the pear-shaped body decorated with opposing lappet shaped panels containing scrolling foliate flowers against a green or yellow ground, below bands of lappets and scrolls, and a wide band of green cracked-ice-pattern on the garlic necks; height: 7 7/8 in. (20 cm.). For a similar example see the Victoria and Albert Museum, no. C.454-1922; see also the National Trust Collection (Wallington, Northumberland), NT 581849. Christiaan Jorg lists an example in, ‘Famille Verte: Chinese porcelain in green enamels’, p. 34, no. 22, from the Groningen Musuem, in which he suggests that the ‘cashmere’ flaming-leaf panels indicate such vases were intended for the Perisan or Indian market.
