Pair of Chinese hexagonal famille verte puzzle jugs, Kangxi (1662-1722), the body of hexagonal form decorated with ogee shaped panels containing antiques and auspicious objects, including a rabbit on a table, the spreading foot with ruyi heads beneath a floral and hatched pattern, the shoulders with a wide cellular band containing florets beneath the pierced necks with panels of flowers and a serpentine handle with foliate decoration set at right angles to the monster mask spout, modelled after a European original. A similarly shaped pair are illustrated by Gorer and Blacker, 'Chinese Porcelains and Hard Stones', Vol. I, pl. 135. SOLD
