Chinese blue and white dragon dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in the centre with a four-clawed scaly dragon and carp springing forth from crashing waves amidst scrolling clouds, the reverese decorated with beribboned precious objects and apocryphal Xuande mark to the base within double concentric circles; diameter: 10 1/2in. (26.5cm. ). The carp-dragon is symbolic of attaining success and is often found on objects bestowed to those studying for their civil service exams in hopes of passing. SOLD
