Massive Chinese blue and white kraak charger, Wanli (1573-1619), with broad upturned rim and barbed edge, decorated to the centre with a large ogee medallion containing a tripod jardinière of peony and precious objects, in a fenced garden, against cellular and interlocking sauvastika grounds, the wide rim with alternating ogee-topped panels containing stylised fruiting boughs and precious objects including beribboned scrolls and tasselled artemisia leaves, interspersed by narrow cartouches with alternating cell and sauvastika grounds and pendant tassels; the reverse with eight further radiating panels divided by ruyi sceptre motif.
