Rare Chinese famille verte ewer, Kangxi (1662-1722), the bulbous body decorated with lotus-leaf panels containing floral sprays, beneath a foliate lotus scrollwork border outlined in underglaze blue to the shoulder, the long tapering neck and curving spout decorated with floral sprays, the rim with lappets, with underglaze blue artemesia leaf mark to base; height: 8 3/4in. (22cm.).This type of pouring vessel may be based on an earlier Kraak model which itself is a derivative of Islamic forms; it is more common in underglaze blue.
