Chinese imari charger, late Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with a central roundel containing a chrysanthemum flowerhead, within a peony and lotus scroll border, the cavetto with scrolling foliate chrysanthemum and prunus flowers, with two opposing half ‘fan’ roundels shaped like a chrysanthemum to the gilded rim; , . This design is similar to Japanese designs and was copied by the English ceramic factories as the ‘fan pattern’ in the eighteenth century.
