Japanese Kakiemon flask, late seventeenth century, of square-section form with gently curving sides and long neck, the four sides each painted in fine overglaze enamels with either climbing chrysanthemum or sprays of flowering plum blossom, the slender neck with formal pendant lambrequins formed of entwined vines, leaves and stylised lotus-type flowerheads.
