Rare near pair of Chinese famille rose vases and stands, Yongzheng (1723-35), the tapering bodies of square section form, each panel depicting a figural narrative scene from the ‘Romance of the Western Chamber’, the shoulders with flowerheads against a cellular or scrollwork ground, the flaring necks with panels containing floral sprays or boys at play, the detachable stands of two tiers, with pierced sides, decorated with ruyi and flowerheads; height of vases: 11 7/8 in. (30.3 cm.) and 11 ½ in. (29.3 cm.) , height of bases: 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) and 2 ½ in. (6.3 cm.); condition: both vases and one base with chips and one vase with long chip to corner and hairline to the neck, all restored to a high standard
