Italian Faenza Soup Plate, Ferniani Factory C. 1760-1800
Italian Faenza soup plate, Ferniani factory c. 1760-1800, decorated in the centre with flowering carnations in a fenced garden, the cavetto with four floral-cartouches against a diaper ground, the rim with flower sprays, diameter: 9 3/8in., 23.9cm. This design is based upon a Japanese Arita original and was developed in the Ferniani factory in Faenza from 1760.
