Japanese Imari bowl, 19th century, with slightly everted rim, decorated to the exterior with an abstract design comprised of various shapes with contrasting patterns, a landscape scene depicting cranes flying past Mount Fuji, with clouds and pine; another section with a stylised ho-ho bird in flight, another with prunus flowers, the footrim encircled by a band of narrow blue lappets; the interior with further abstract shapes with brightly coloured patterns, and three main sections depicting Mount Fuji, a ho-ho bird and prunus, the well with a band of blue and green stripes and a central roundel of ginkgo against a scrolling gilt ground.
