Chinese famille verte dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with a phoenix in a fenced garden with branches of peony and chrysanthemum issuing from rockwork and a jardinière containing prunus, bamboo and pine, with a phoenix in flight above, bordered by four cartouches enclosing fish and birds against peony blossom and foliage on a green-stippled ground, the reverse decorated with alternating scrolling peonies and lilies beneath a cross-hatch rouge-de-fer decoration containing six vignettes on the underside of rim
