Canton enamel quatrelobed tray, late Qianlong (1736-95), decorated with European figures in a garden by a terrace with pillars and an oval doorway in which stands a figure with a cat, the centre painted with a man seated at the foot of a tree with a baby on his lap and a woman with her arms on his shoulder beside him sits and older child, to his left a man with a tricorn hat and a lady and 2 children are seated at the base of a pine tree, to his right a lady stands by the steps holding a baby in her arms looking at a young boy with a piece of coral in his hand, in the foreground is a brook with rockwork, the border decorated with four cartouches containing scrolling flowers against a diaper background, the reverse with a boating scene on a lake with two bridges, a pine tree in the foreground against a mountainous background, diameter: 30.3 cm.
