A celadon-glazed tripod censer, Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the bulbous bowl carved on the exterior with a band of peony between raised flower head bosses, standing on three short legs moulded with monster masks, unglazed centre and base.

Provenance: from the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The censer was purchased by Nydell from the antique dealer B Berry, Gothenburg 1958.
