Small Meissen ecuelle and cover, circa 1735, the body painted in the Kakiemon style with the 'Flying Fox' or 'Eichhörnchen' pattern, depicting on side a red creature, the opposite a yellow squirrel among vines and banded hedges, the shallow domed cover similarly decorated surmounted by a double dolphin finial, the rim glazed brown, the bowl with twin dolphin handles, with blue crossed sword mark to base, height: 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.).
