Fine Chinese turquoise food vessel, 'fangding', Kangxi (1662-1722), of square cross-section with opposing loop handles, raised on four columnar feet; the corners with flanges, each side incised with a dragon amongst swirling clouds. SOLD

Height: 19.5 cm. (7.3/4in.), width: 15cm. (5 7/8in.), depth: 22.7cm. (4 5/8in.); height with stand and cover: 29cm. (11 3/8in.)
Condition:
One handle detached and cleanly re-attached, one foot reattached and a very faint 'hair-line' down by one corner
Notes:
This type of food vessel (fangding) is based on an archaic bronze shape from the late Shang/early Western Zhou Dynasty. Historically, they were used for offerings to the gods or ancestors.
