Chinese blue and white dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), with gently lobed rim, decorated to the central roundel with two ladies meeting in a peony garden; one approaching on a horse while the other stands, attended by a lady in waiting holding a large beribboned parasol, with birds flying overhead and rockwork in the foreground, the cavetto and flat rim with eight petal-shaped alternating panels containing peony issuing from rockwork and further garden scenes with the two ladies, against an interlocking pattern ground with ribbon details, the reverse with six scrolling flower heads, ruyi heads and Kangxi mark within double circle to the base
