A Meissen teabowl and saucer, circa 1740, the exterior of the teabowl decorated with a continuous scene with a band of travelling figures resting next to a harbour, and a sublime landscape of mountains and sea dotted with boats; the interior decorated with a group of figures pausing beside a rustic dwelling with castle in the background; the saucer painted with a group admiring a ruined classical scene with columns and trailing vines, within concentric iron-red line bands and Laub-und-Bandlewerk borders to the rim; underglaze blue crossed swords to the base, gilder’s mark 5Z to base of teabowl and saucer.
