A Meissen teabowl and saucer, circa 1740, the exterior of the teabowl decorated with a continuous romantic scene with figures beside red cliffs, a lone horseman and deserted castle; the interior decorated with a couple underneath overhanging red rockwork and landscape with small chapel; the saucer painted with a horseman and followers against the backdrop of the sea and ruins of a fortress, within concentric iron-red line bands and Laub-und-Bandlewerk borders to the rim; underglaze blue crossed swords to the base, gilder’s mark 5Z to base of teabowl and saucer, impressed Dreher's mark 52 on base of saucer and impressed Dreher's mark 2 on base of teabowl.
