A Meissen teabowl and saucer, circa 1740, the exterior of the teabowl decorated with a continuous scene of merchants with ships and marine landscape behind; the interior decorated with figures in boats and on the water’s edge with a village; the saucer finely painted with a rural scene of figures beside a rustic deserted cottage, within concentric iron-red line bands and Laub-und-Bandlewerk borders to the rim; underglaze blue crossed swords to the base, gilder’s mark 5Z to base of teabowl and saucer and impressed Dreher's mark on baseof saucer.
