A Meissen teapot and cover, circa 1740, decorated with rural scenes of strolling and reclining figures in a European landscape within Laub-und-Bandelwerk borders, the cartouches interspersed with insects and sprays of flowers, with scroll-moulded gilded J-handle and curved animal-head gilded spout, the lid similarly decorated with rural scenes within concentric iron red bands; underglaze blue crossed swords to the base, gilders mark ‘D’ on teapot and lid, height 3 ½ in. (9cm.), width from top of handle to spout: 7 1/16in. (18cm.) SOLD
