Chinese blue and white klapmutz bowl, Kangxi (1662-1722), with everted rim, painted in underglaze cobalt blue to the exterior with four panels, two of which contain scenes inside a pavilion, alternating with panels of calligraphy, the everted rim with five cartouches containing precious objects against a liewen ground, the interior with a central roundel containing two children playing in a landscape within concentric bands, the inner rim with leiwen pattern and five cartouches containing peaches, apocryphal Xuande mark to the base.
The inscriptions refer to 'Romance of the Western Chamber'.
