Chinese famille verte bowl and cover, Kangxi (1662-1722), with two applied handles moulded in the form of beast heads, the bowl and lid each decorated in overglaze enamels with four ogee-shaped panels in reserve against a stippled green ground and containing floral boughs including peony, chrysanthemum and prunus issuing from rockwork with perching birds and flying insects overhead; the rims with a band containing four floral cartouches against an alternating ground of diaper against a red stipple, and precious objects, the bowl with a band of green scrollwork to the footrim, the lid surmounted by a knop decorated with a yellow chrysanthemum head.
