Large Chinese blue and white plate, Kangxi (1662-1722), with gently barbed rim, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue to the centre with a lotus flower roundel surrounded by a collar of ruyi-heads and twelve radiating ogee-topped petal cartouches containing various floral sprigs against a lattice diaper ground, the wide rim with a further twelve floral cartouches against a diaper ground; the reverse rim painted with fruiting and floral boughs, the base with a beribboned solid lozenge; one of the eight babao or ‘precious things’, within a double circle.
