Chinese blue and white bowl, Kangxi (1662-1722), rising from a short foot to a flaring scalloped rim, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue to the exterior with an aquatic scene of fish swimming amongst strands of seaweed, water plants, delicate fronds and flowers, the scene continued on a band to the interior rim, the interior with a central roundel containing a large crab amongst aquatic plants, the base with a central mark within double blue circle. Example of a similar piece In this example there are some fritting and minute nicks to the mouth rim - There are a few hairlines to the mouth rim, the body near foot and the base, the largest measuring approx. 3.2cm - There are some glaze gaps to the interior and in the underside of the foot - There are minute nicks to the foot rim.
