A blue and white 'lotus' jar, Ming Dynasty, Wanli (1573-1620), of lobed octagonal form, the globular body rising from a recessed base to a short lobed collar rim, decorated to the exterior in a rich cobalt blue with stylised flowering lotus stems with curling foliage, all above a stiff leaf band and circular bands to the foot, the neck with scrolling flowerhead motif.

Fritting to rim, foot rim and a very small chip to the foot rim

According to a helpful Japanese client, based on the clothing these images were taken during the Meiji period c.1900
Provenance:
From the Estate Of Anne Morningstar Huberth, Southern Pines. Images are of the owner's great grandmother and grandmother at their home in Japan, the second is of her great grandfather produced by the Hastings studio in Boston, Massachusetts.
