Fine Chinese baluster jar and cover from the reign of the Shunzhi Emperor (Chinese: ???; pinyin: Shùnzhìdì ) painted in under-glaze blue, green, iron-red, and yellow enamels with writhing scaly dragons chasing flaming pearls among clouds and flame scrolls, a band of blue "cracked ice" at the shoulder below a further band of lappets, height: 16 1/8in. 41cm., condition: small area of damage to lid and neck neatly restored , Provenance: Somerton Castle SOLD
