Chinese blue and white ovoid jar, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with four ogee-shaped panels containing two fan-shaped panels with a figure near two towers and auspicious emblems, the panels separated by sprays of lotus blossom, chrysanthemum and peony, the foot decorated with flame and scroll border, the shoulder with a ruyi and scroll band border, height: 9 7/8in. 25cm. A blue and white jar with similar decoration was recovered from the No. 1 Wanjiao shipwreck found in the East China Sea near Fuzhou and dated to c. 1700.
