Chinese blue and white beaker and cover, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with ogee-shaped panels containing branches of flowers, with underglaze blue leaf mark to base, height (excluding cover): 4 1/8in., 10.5cm.According to W.R. Sargent such covered beakers were probably exported to Europe to be used for drinking chocolate. Such shapes were recovered from the Vung Tau wreck which has been dated to c. 1690.
