Japanese Kakiemon fluted 'two boys' saucer dish, 17th century, with fluted rim, decorated with a seated boy holding a fan, facing another boy standing against a flower-vase, with two birds in flight overhead.

A teabowl and saucer with the same pattern can be found in the silver necessaire of Marie Leczinska in the Louvre, Paris. Meissen copies of this saucer dish can be found in a number of European Collections such as the Hoffmeister in Hamburg and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, an illustrated example can be seen in; den Blauuwen, Abraham L., 'Meissen Porcelain in the Rijksmuseum', p. 251, pl. 182.
