Pair of Chinese famille verte square-section vases, Kangxi (1662-1722), the four sides decorated with peony and chrysanthemum issuing from rockwork with butterflies, birds perched upon branches of flowering prunus, and mandarin ducks on a lake with peony and birds, one side with the inscription 'Yung Tianpei gives this wonderful vase to his friend Gong Qingnian, the shoulder decorated with chrysanthemum flowers on a ground of scrolling foliage, the neck with branches of flowers and butterflies, height: 19 3/8in., 49.3cm.
