Chinese famille verte dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated with a phoenix and two cockerels in a fenced garden with branches of peony issuing from rockwork and a jardinière containing prunus, bamboo and pine, with another phoenix, butterflies and smaller insects in flight above, bordered by four cartouches enclosing butterfly against a prunus blossom and foliage on a green-stippled ground, the reverse with two concentric circles to the base, three sprays of peony and a band of iron red to the rim.
