Chinese blue and white bowl, Kangxi mark and period (1662-1722), decorated with figures carrying out the three scholarly pursuits of playing the lute, chess (or xiangqi) and scroll painting among pine, rockwork, bamboo and cloudscrolls, the rim with four shaped-cartouches containing fruiting branches against a swastika ground, the underside of the rim with four shaped-cartouches containing flowering branches against cell-pattern and ruyi ground, diameter: 7 15/16in., 20.1cm; condition: hairline and two small chips to rim, curved hairline to body.
