Pair of Japanese imari trumpet vases, 18th century, decorated with shaped panels enclosing a pair of ducks with reeds and ho-ho bird perched upon a flowering tree, above with two quatrefoils enclosing a shi-shi dog with peony and butterflies with chrysanthemum, all against a blue ground with scrolling foliage and peony, the rim with dragons among clouds above flowerhead lappets, height: 15 9/16in., 39.5cm and 15 5/16in., 38.6cm; condition: one with two pieces out of rim and associated short hairline re-stuck with rivets.
