Chinese famille verte armorial lobed 'Province' dish, Kangxi period, c. 1720, with foliate rim, decorated with the arms of the Dutch province of Henegouwen (Hainaut), above the legend 'Henegouvw' on a ground of birds, butterflies and flower-sprays, bordered by lotus-petal panels of figures in gardens alternating with vases and jardinières of flowers on a diaper-pattern ground, diameter: 9 1/2in., 24cm; condition: short hairline and frits to rim. These plate is from a series of twenty-four armorials of Dutch cities and regions. Two further plates from the series are illustrated in David S.
